Need for formalized robotic training and curriculum in obstetrics and gynecology residency: an examination of current resident outlooks and perspectives
Contents
The article evaluates the current state of robotic surgery training in ACGME-accredited OB/GYN residency programs. Through a survey of residents, the study found that while 98.7% of institutions perform robotic surgery and 90.7% have access to robotic console trainers, only 57.3% have formalized training curricula. The study highlighted hands-on training as the most effective method, whereas online modules were deemed the least helpful. A significant majority of residents expressed the need for standardized robotic surgery curricula across all residency programs, citing barriers such as time constraints and limited access to training equipment. The findings suggest a strong demand for structured and consistent robotic surgery training to enhance surgical proficiency and confidence among OB/GYN residents.
